Melbourne’s Epping and Werribee Shopping Centres celebrated local emergency services personnel in May, hosting family-friendly events featuring live emergency services demonstrations and free kids’ entertainment.
Emergency services representatives included the Metropolitan Fire Brigade, Victorian Police, the Australian Federal Police, and Ambulance Victoria.
With families making up 57% of local households in Epping’s trade area, Epping Centre Manager Simon Brown said that the family-friendly event was an important opportunity for locals to connect with and learn more about emergency services and their personnel who work hard for the community every day.
“The Emergency Services Day was a fantastic event for our community, giving people of all ages the chance to come together and learn from local emergency services teams about their work, as well as enjoying the array of other activities on offer,” Mr Brown said.
The Werribee and Epping events featured a range of demonstrations and activities to entertain visitors of all ages, including a jumping castle, barbecue fundraiser, face painting and displays of historic emergency services vehicles.
All money raised from these events was donated to the Blue Ribbon Foundation.
