Celebrating the origins of food

Set to open in mid-2020, The Marketplace marks the first stage of our proposed multi-year transformation of the Watergardens visitor experience.

Designed as a vibrant contemporary market-style experience, The Marketplace will see food span cultures and generations to mirror the diversity of our community. Addressing the needs of the Taylor's Lakes community, this dynamic market-style environment will unite providores, growers, makers and hawker-style vendors beneath an indoor-outdoor trellis canopy; introduce a second supermarket; and provide a range of new family-friendly leisure spaces.

Having established itself as the principal meeting place for an engaged, multicultural community for over two decades, Watergardens is poised to become a major lifestyle hub for Melbourne's outer west as the region grows. The corridor’s population is set to double in the 10 years to 2026, with retail spend across the total trade area currently estimated at $4.4bn*.

The people of Watergardens
A new culinary destination

The best of fresh

As a vibrant new home for purveyors of the finest meats, seafood, fruit and vegetables, The Marketplace will inspire our community to celebrate the joys of fresh, seasonal produce.

Global flavour, local touch

Inspired by the world’s iconic hawker markets, this architecturally designed space will feature an array of flavourful street foods, plus specialty products including single-origin coffee and European desserts.
A place to gather

With easy access to parking, a mixture of indoor and outdoor seating, a new children’s play area and plentiful green space, The Marketplace has collective wellbeing and community cohesion at its heart. Meanwhile, a program of food-focused events will keep the environment buzzing with life day and night.
